Earth is one of the eight planets within our solar system that rotates the sun. BUT there are many things that make Earth different. Earth is the only planet that is known to have life. It is the home to plants, animals, and humans. It is also the only planet that has liquid on its surface. |

Layers of the Earth
The inside of the Earth consists of rock and metal. It has four main layers:
1.) The inner core: a solid metal core made up of nickel and iron
2.) The outer core: a liquid molten core of nickel and iron
3.) The mantle: dense and mostly solid silicate rock
4.) The crust: thin silicate rock material
It also has an atmosphere. The atmosphere is like a big blanket. It absorbs the heat from the Sun and keeps the heat inside the atmosphere, helping the Earth stay warm. It is made up of mostly nitrogen and oxygen. Oxygen is very important because it is needed by animals and us to breathe!
